WHAT IS A HARDWOOD FLOOR?

Quick-Step hardwood floors are engineered wood floors made up of three
layers of solid wood, covered with a protective finish. Thanks to the careful
selection of raw material and a perfect control of the moisture content of
the wood during the manufacturing process, hardwood floors guarantee
optimum stability and durability.

What is engineered hard wood?

1. FINISHING LAYER

Depending on the Parquet floor you choose, this finishing layer may consists
of:

  • Seven layers of UV-cured water based lacquer. This lacquer protects your
floor against wear, scratches and stains, and makes it as easy to maintain.

  • Two layers of quality modified oil which creates an extra matt and natural
authentic look and which ages gracefully.

2. FACE LAYER

A carefully selected, solid wood layer in a vast array of colours and
structures. Most Quick-Step engineered wood floors have a face layer of 3
mm thick. The ‘Compact’ range has a face layer of 2,5 mm. The surface
layer can be sanded and refinished.

3. CORE

The core layer is what makes a floor stable and durable. It absorbs stress and
strain and keeps the floor stable in all conditions. The balance between the
hardness and the flexibility of the core material is crucial in ensuring a smooth
click and a strong connection. The core consists of Hevea blocks or HDF. Hevea is the wood         from rubber trees which get a 'second life' after they served for rubber supply.

4. BACKING LAYER

A backing layer of spruce or pine veneer. In combination with the other layers,
it prevents the floor from cupping or warping.

HOW TO INSTALL A QUICK-STEP HARDWOOD FLOOR ON STAIRS

You can easily cover your stairs with Quick-Step hardwood using the the
Quick-Step Incizo profile. The only condition is that the steps of your
staircase must be straight and not rounded.

Here's how it works:

  1. Glue a cut to size hardwood panel with Quick-Step One4All glue to the
riser. Use spacers to ensure that sufficient space is left underneath to
fit in the wood panel of the step.
  2. Glue and screw the aluminium base profile on the step nose.
  3. Apply glue to the sub-profile and the step. Spread out the glue across
    the sub-profile.
  4. Place a hardwood plank on the step with the underside of the tongue
against the edge of the front of the alu base.
  5. Push the associated plastic strip (white, blue or black) on the tongue
    of the plank.
  6. Apply glue to both sides of the Incizo base.
  7. Press the Incizo profile onto the alu base.

What is the best direction to install my floor?

WHAT IS THE BEST DIRECTION TO INSTALL MY FLOOR?

From a technical point of view, any direction is possible: you can install the
planks both lengthwise and widthwise. The choice is purely a matter of
personal taste.

As a general rule, you will obtain the most attractive effect if you lay the
floor in the same direction as the main light source and in the same line as
the most frequently used entrance. However, if there are several doors and
windows in the room, you can opt for the direction that facilitates the actual
installation.

Can I use Quick-Step Parquet in combination with underfloor heating?

CAN I USE QUICK-STEP PARQUET IN COMBINATION WITH UNDERFLOOR
HEATING?

Quick-Step Parquet - with the exception of ash and beech - can be combined
with 'low temperature' underfloor heating. However, it is absolutely necessary
to follow the technical instructions. All details can be found in the installation
manual.
